About Emily
Emily was born and raised in Jackson, in the same house in fact, where her mother still lives—in the historic Belhaven neighborhood. She noticed early on that her family’s English Vernacular Revival-style house built in 1926 was almost unique in the neighborhood though akin to Eudora Welty’s house. Yellow is Emily's favorite color though not many people know that.
About Naoya
Naoya too was raised in a historically significant house, a San Francisco cottage that survived the 1906 earthquake and fire, though he didn’t take much stock in that. He concentrated instead on the killer hills (they had to park sideways), which provided endless thrills for rollerblading and biking. He picked up on his mother’s chic sense of style, however, and prefers to live in white and gray.
Naoya and Emily will make their home in a historic house near the top of a not-too-big hill in historic Candler Park in Atlanta. The house is mostly white and gray, and they will share it with Naoya's gray dog, Bella, and Emily's two yellow cats, Monty and Pekoe.
